Hoppy Easter

We celebrated our second Easter with Olivia a couple weeks ago.  It's fun as she gets older for us to begin adding traditions into our holiday celebrations and watch her start to enjoy them. Well, sorta of.

On Good Friday, I was able to take my first Friday off of work since December and Geoff had the day off too so we headed to an Easter party with our Friday playgroup.  One of the dad's dressed up as the Easter Bunny and pranced around the back yard hiding eggs while the children observed from inside.  Olivia was mesmerized by the Bunny from afar.  She was racing to all the different windows depending on where he was at in the yard to get a glimpse of him.
Where did the bunny go??
Once all the eggs were hidden, the children were let outside to gather eggs.  Olivia didn't really get it and seemed more content to just run around the yard.  She spotted a couple eggs, but didn't quite understand that the objective was to put them in your basket instead of toss them back onto the ground.  Fortunately, she's got some great parents who snagged a couple for her!

Later she had the opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny but apparently, the bunny is more exciting from inside the house than he is up close and personal.

Geoff's parents came down for the Easter weekend.  It was a busy weekend filled with running (Geoff and I ran a 4 mile race - he won his age group and I placed seventh in mine), attending opening weekend baseball to cheer on the Astros and celebrating Christ's resurrection at church and with a big Easter lunch which included our friends Adam and Jasmine.  We enjoyed having some time to catch up with them before Baby A arrives in a few more weeks.

Let's Play!

It's my observation that Houston has nice weather for about twelve weeks a year: six weeks in the March-April and six weeks in October-November.  So since we are currently in the nice window before the heat and humidity arrive, we have been spending lots and lots of time outside at the park down the street.  Unless it's raining, Olivia is at the park at least once per day, frequently more than that.  She loves running around on the playground and is quite accomplished at all the climbing and going down the slides, both big and small.  She also loves to climb up the slides, especially the twisty ones.  She is not intimated by the bigger, older kids and will just push her way to where she wants to go which is pretty funny to watch.  I love all her energy and excitement.  It's so fulfilling as a parent to see the pure enjoyment and wonder on her face as she finds some new fun or realizes she's capable of doing something she didn't know she could do.

Here are a few of my favorite shots from some recent trips we took to the park.
